Grants are available to candidates from any of the 27 EU member states for a period of up to nine months. Proposals must have a strong EU component on a topic that is relevant to US-EU relations, EU affairs/policy, or EU institutions, and to at least two EU member states.
Candidates are expected to submit clear, creative, and feasible project proposals and demonstrate the following characteristics.
- Academic excellence or outstanding personal or professional background
- Ambassadorial qualities necessary for educational and cultural exchange
- Interest in contributing to the Fulbright alumni community
- Willingness to return to home country and share newfound knowledge
Note that candidates applying for the Fulbright Schuman Program should not apply for other Fulbright awards in the same competition year.
