Georgetown University’s BMW Center for German and European Studies is pleased to announce its newly-established partnership with Fulbright-Schuman in Belgium. As part of this initiative, the BMW Center is committed to matching funds secured by successful applicants to the Fulbright-Schuman Program for EU Citizens who will enroll in the Master of Arts Program in German and European Studies at Georgetown University.
For EU citizens who are granted up to 6 months of funding from Fulbright-Schuman, the BMW Center will offer a one-fourth scholarship over the entire period of study (four semesters, totaling approximately $25,000). For EU Citizens who are granted 7 months or more of funding from Fulbright-Schuman, the BMW Center will offer a one-half scholarship over the entire period of study (four semesters, totaling approximately $50,000).
The Master of Arts in German and European Studies (MAGES) program is a two-year, full-time, interdisciplinary course of study. MAGES is the preeminent European Studies program in the United States and prepares students to be leaders in transatlantic relations and European affairs across both the private and public sectors. In addition to six core courses that focus on Europe and its societies from the perspectives of participating disciplines, students form their own concentrations or pursue a graduate certificate by choosing electives across Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service. The Fulbright-Schuman Program grants awards to candidates from any of the EU Member States wishing to study, research, or lecture on a topic relevant to U.S.-EU relations, EU policy, or EU institutions. The awards vary from round-trip travel to grants covering all expenses for one academic year. A one-time € 2,000 travel grant and a monthly stipend of the dollar equivalence of € 2,000 for those with at least a bachelor’s degree (but not holding a PhD yet) will be awarded for up to 9 months. In order to be eligible for the dual funding from Fulbright-Schuman and Georgetown University’s BMW Center for German and European Studies, applicants must:
- Submit separate and complete applications to both the Fulbright-Schuman Program and Georgetown University’s Master of Arts in German and European Studies (MAGES) by December 1 at noon PM Brussels time. The application fee for Georgetown’s MAGES program will be waived for complete applications submitted by December 1.
- Be awarded both a grant from Fulbright Schuman and admission to the MAGES program for the same academic year.
